Details surrounding the building of our bridge.

Working on the new bridge.

June 18, 1998 – Purchased land. The church had the option to buy any of the last three vacant lots on New Shackle Island Road and the church determined that the middle lot would be the best place for a future bridge.

June 3, 2003 – Church presents Phase 3 Site Plan to the Sumner County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission desired for the church to build the bridge at this time, but a traffic study required by the Commission determined that it was not yet necessary, and the Commission reluctantly allowed the church to delay construction of the bridge to the next building phase.

June 27, 2006 – Sumner County Planning Commission approved site plan to expand church facilities, parking and entrance/exit to Long Hollow Pike and New Shackle Road. Phase 4 is approved by the Commission with the condition that the bridge be built.

February 7, 2007 – Raven Engineering Surveyed the land on New Shackle Island Road.

February 9, 2007 – Frierson started construction on bridge on New Shackle Island Road property. The size of the bridge was determined after exhaustive hydrological studies of Drakes Creek by FEMA. Bridge approval is cleared by several state and federal agencies. TDOT required the left-hand turn lane.

February 27, 2007 – Sumner County Planning Commission approved final master development plan to expand church facilities, parking and entrance/exit to Long Hollow Pike and New Shackle Road.

August 12, 2007 – Bridge opened.
