A Word From Our Pastor

The "Defining Moment" campaign is not about buildings, but people.

Dear Long Hollow Family,

Compass

A year ago we launched this God-sized campaign to see how Long Hollow would respond. And though Long Hollow DID respond in an amazing way, more funds are needed to complete the dream. Our prayer is that through this additional emphasis there will be many more people to join those who made sacrificial commitments a year ago. We also hope that many who have already made commitments, perhaps not sacrificial, will consider raising their pledge.

Let me remind you why we are doing this campaign in the first place. It has never been more evident that the church is God's instrument of change in the world. Through His body of believers, the Holy Spirit reaches out to unbelievers bringing salvation and peace to people whom, apart from Him, face darkness and emptiness alone. It is our deep conviction that God has placed Long Hollow strategically where we are "for such a time as this."

The challenge before us is to be faithful to our mission of reaching our world. The "Defining Moment" campaign is not about buildings but people. The world may see buildings, but we know they are valuable tools for reaching our world. We are building for those who aren't here yet!

As your pastor, I need you to do two things during this continued "Defining Moment" campaign:

  1. Pray - Ask for God's continued blessing on Long Hollow and for this special emphasis. Also, ask God what part you should play. If you made a pledge last year, consider asking God if He wants you to increase it.
  2. Participate - We need every member to give something. God has given us all different levels of resources to draw upon. We can't all give the same amount, but we can all give some amount. Our motto is "equal sacrifice, not equal gifts." Keep in mind we are asking you to give over the next two years. What could God do through you in a two-year period? Will you give beyond your comfort zone?

These are incredibly exciting days! Can you believe God has let us be a part of something as awesome as this? I can't wait to see what He will do as we follow Him in faith and obedience. May our prayer be that of the psalmist, "Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." (Psalm 115:1)

I love you guys! I am truly blessed to serve as your pastor.

Yours in Christ,

David
