Contentment is the state of being satisfied and the Bible has a lot to say about it. Contentment with what we have allows us to invest in things that matter to God. Take a look at the following passage:
"Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die:
Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God." (Proverbs 30:7-9)
The writer of this Proverb prayed an interesting prayer - don't let me be poor and don't let me be rich. This is simply a prayer for contentment. When we see what we have as more than enough, we will find it possible to give. If you've never given, make 2012 your year to give something regularly. If you have been giving for a long time, let 2012 be the year you discover the peacefulness of contentment and the blessing of investing more in God's Kingdom.
We are encouraging Long Hollow families to take the next step in their financial giving.
