LifeHabits

"Train yourself for the purpose of godliness." - 1 Timothy 4:7 (NLV)

Footsteps in the sand

The ten "LifeHabits" discipleship tools have been developed to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus. Spiritual growth, called discipleship, is the third step in Long Hollow's five-step strategy.

The Ten LifeHabits
  1. Let others hold you accountable. (Accountability group)
  2. Instruct yourself in God's Word. (Personal Bible study)
  3. Fast and pray. (Fasting)
  4. Encourage others. (Note writing)
  5. Hide God's Word in your heart. (Scripture memory)
  6. Always tithe. (Giving)
  7. Begin every day with a Quiet Time. (Daily devotions)
  8. Invest in someone else's growth. (Mentoring)
  9. Take Notes. (Sermon notes)
  10. Share what God is doing in your life. (Testimony)

Our prayer for you is that you will know how to grow on your own for the rest of your life. Each tool is designed for you to begin and continue at your own pace, so don't feel overwhelmed! We want your use of these tools to be like a marathon rather than a sprint. In a sprint you begin with a bang and you take off and it's exciting and the crowd cheers, but in about 100 yards you're done. In a marathon you may begin just by jogging or even by walking but you go a thousand times farther than a sprint before you're through. That's our goal for you... that you keep on running for the rest of your life, that the use of these tools will become a part of who you are and how you grow in your relationship with Jesus from now on.

We recommend that you start with only three, unless you are already involved in those three habits. Then, when you are ready, you will be able to begin using more of these spiritual growth tools. Start slow if you need to, but take what you start very seriously.

Start small if you need to, and let us help you! Stop by the Worship Center next time you're on campus to pick up a free LifeHabits booklet.
